2006 Public Events

Each open gathering for 2006 was created by 2-4 St. Louis Mysteries who had attended the Diana's Grove Mystery School intensive a week or so previously. The event was then supported by other St. Louis Mysteries who helped with various ritual roles or philosophy parts.

What Calls You from the Dark Night?

Yule…the darkest night of the year, the fallow time, the longest night, turning from darkness to increasing light.

The 2006 Mystery School focuses on the mythic story of Psyche and Eros. This story ends in the way all stories of transformation do; Psyche dies, and her death is a doorway, an initiation, into her rebirth as a Goddess. This is the story of the soul.

Psyche means soul…Psyche means breath…Psyche means butterfly

On this darkest night of the year, let us face death and choose to live. At the end of the story, Psyche dies. The woman dies: a Goddess is born. Psyche passes through her own dark night, her initiation, and claims her immortality. The immortal soul…that which we will be remembered by…the impression we make on the world…soul is the expanded self.

What are the goals and dreams that call you out and send you on the journey?
What challenges you to step beyond comfort?
What possibilities will you embrace and feed full of light and life?

February 5th Open Gathering at Elements of Wellness
Initiation: What is your soul, your expanded self?
What do you reach for? What barriers hold you back from transformation?

We begin with the beginning of the story of Psyche and Eros. Psyche's journey is a path to initiation. Psyche transforms to become a goddess. Her initiation is into her own expanded self, her immortal soul.

What are the goals and dreams that call you out and send you on the journey?
What challenges you to step beyond comfort?

March 5th Open Gathering at Elements of Wellness:
Dedicate to an Element
Air as Breath, Fire as Light, Water as Soul and Earth as Being

Breath, Light, Soul and Being ~ which do you crave an alliance with? What are you willing to sacrifice to Breath to gain his support? What does Soul ask of you in exchange for her knowings? How do you show Being you are ready to be her apprentice? What do you offer up to Light in order to learn his mysteries?

April 2nd Open Gathering at Elements of Wellness:
Blind Faith: Preparing for Enchantment
Shedding our stories, and moving towards relationship with others

Blind Faith. Taking a chance. Trust. Entering into any relationship, be it with a friend, a group, a job, a lover…all relationships require a moment of trust without reason, without proof. Can you trust in that relationship enough to reach for it, without any proof it will work out? Can you be enchanted, and make a leap of faith?

What keeps you from reaching, from that intimacy? What defenses keep you cocooned, safe, and distant? What old stories would you like to shed?

May 7 Open Gathering at Bridges:
Lighting the Light
When have you broken a covenant? When have you made a covenant you were bound to break?

Doubt enters paradise. Love, growth and betrayal. Paradise ends: life begins. "All I asked was that you trust me," Eros said. "I had to know," Psyche answered. What gifts and challenges does doubt bring? When has doubt been an intitiator in your life?

June 4th Open Gathering at Bridges:
The Choice and the Challenge
Take the easy way out? Or follow the more challenging road to your excellence? Your dream needs you….

”Go back Psyche,” Pan says. “If you want to reunite with Eros, you will be challenged to grow.

What will you choose when Pan tells you to take the easy way out, rather than follow the more challenging road that will take you to your excellence?

June 10th Public Ritual at Pagan Picnic:
Coming of Age

This ritual will be in the energetic, eclectic and inclusive style that many have come to expect from Diana’s Grove. The theme will ask us in what ways are we now coming of age? What parts of us have reached a time of transition or rededication and are ready to accept our role and power? Power to heal ourselves or others, power to support and expand our community, power to see and know ourselves better than ever before. What kind of self discovery awaits you? Come to this ritual and dive into the process of answering these questions for yourself.

July 9th Open Gathering at Bridges
Follow Your Path
What asks you to step off your path? What calls you away from your dream? And can love keep you on your path?

”Stay on your path, Psyche,” is the advice Aphrodite offers.
What will you choose when distractions call you from your path? Can you keep reaching for your dreams?

Will you let love keep you on the path to your dreams?

Please feel free to bring any icons, images, or symbols of your distractions, of what calls you off your path, for an altar and some experiential work during the gathering.

August 6th Open Gathering at Bridges
Filling the Chalice
What will you risk to fulfill your heart's desire? How far will you go to achieve your dreams? Can you fill the chalice of your heart from the Source?

"Will you get me a cup of water?" Aphrodite asks this as her first challenge to Psyche. Like us, Psyche is on the path to of challenge to reach for her destiny.

Like Psyche, we must step into challenge. We must brave the River Styx to fill our chalice, fill our hearts, from the waters of the Source.

How do we fill from the Source? How do we learn what fills us? And how do we heal the old wounds to our hearts so that our vessels are whole enough to hold those waters?

August 27th Open Gathering at Bridges
Understanding the Nature of Power
Have you ever been challenged to do something that was completely beyond your capabilities? Have you faced doing something impossible? Can you step into and accept your own power?

”Gather the fleece from the golden Rams of the Sun, Psyche,” Aphrodite offered her second challenge. "To be a priestess and a goddess, you must gather radiance, brilliance, and personal power.” Like us, Psyche is on the path of challenge to reach for her destiny.

To empower, you must have power. Are you willing to face an impossible task? Are you willing to step into your own personal power, to take on the brilliance of the Sun?

Finding Your Personal Magic
What is your personal magic?

What do you bring into the world that is yours alone? How does it feel to stand in that magic? As the soles of your feet meet the soul of the earth, what do you know to be true about what you offer the world?

Bring a box with a lid to collage / decoupage. We will have extras for those who need them.
